BORUSAN DAY NURSERY
There is most commonly one building type inside of organized industrial zones: the rectangular production hall with its pitched or flat roof, each containing parts of autonomous production facilities on a designated piece of land. The building standardization inevitably creates isolation and a monotonous image among the organized industrial zones.
In our prototype nursery building design we made use of the same building phenomenon which creates this gesture, indifferent to any kind of self-expression. We used it as a design tool to create a new type of space organization for a multitude of functions. The various components for the day nursery become part of a new functional landscape, each having its own private open space. Still they are connected with each other by a an amorphous multifaceted social space, an internal courtyard with a skylight.
